Old Barns of Milton County History Program

Join us on February 21 at the Rock Barn for our history program.
Author/photographer Robert Meyers embarked on a two-year quest to document
some of the oldest remaining historic barns in an area once known as Old Milton County,
Georgia, a region with its own rich history. He recently published the book,
Old Barns of Milton County, and more information can be found at www.barnsbook.com.
The program is free and open to public.
Refreshments will be served.

The Cherokee County Historical Society recognizes businesses and individuals for their achievement in historic preservation at the annual Preservation Awards Banquet, which will be held at the Northside Hospital Cherokee Conference Center at the Bluffs on Friday, March 23. The awards are given to encourage and educate the community about the benefits of protecting Cherokee County’s unique history. Properties are judged by the attention given to preserving historic features, and maintaining the integrity of initial design.
The Cherokee County Historical Society is currently requesting nominations for the 2011 Historic Preservation Awards. Historic sites or structures must be at least 50 years old, and should exhibit outstanding success in historic preservation. Rehabilitated properties that have maintained historic integrity are eligible and encouraged to apply.

Cherokee County's African-American History Temporary Exhibition
